Allergies Questions

What are the allergies that upset stomach dialysis patients?

Mar 8, 2017

Dialysis patients often face upset tummies. The factors causing this are many – including the poor balance of electrolytes or salts like sodium and potassium when the kidneys are not functioning well, the retention of fluid in the area around the stomach, etc. Many patients find that simple home remedies help – ginger helps many folks settle their tummy, others swear by saltines, still others avoid food 2 hours before the dialysis. It would be a good idea to look at a few forums of folks on dialysis for this, since there is no single cure that doctors recommend.  Here is a link to one, there are several others on the internet. http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=3270.0
